JOB PURPOSE:
Apply principles of purchasing by coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising, for establishment and by balancing quality with cost to ensure that the best purchases are made.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Reviews requisitions, determine method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid, prepares purchase orders or bid requests, selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items, and estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
- Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability, and selection variety.
- Solicit quotes and negotiate price.
- Advise departments in making purchasing decisions.
- Communicate with distributors, vendors and technical resources and with all levels of management.
- Manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities; view and input data on PC for extended periods of time.
- Support and follow established policies and procedures
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Position also may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Other duties as assigned to facilitate the efficiency of Casino operations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associate’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent work experience four to six years progressively responsible experience in the purchasing, preferably in the gaming industry.
- 3-4 years of purchasing experience
- Valid Driver’s License with clean record
- Use of all Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for spreadsheet, reporting and presentation development.
- Ability to have a flexible schedule to provide for Casino requirements.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a high stress/profile environment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT
Knowledge of purchasing strategies and processes, budgeting, cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Must have good negotiation skill and experience, Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital. This position requires someone who works well on his/her own; is highly self-motivated and disciplined. Positions become available periodically and could be full time or part time.
